Silverstream Technologies has been named ‘Most Innovative Company of the Year’ at the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) Business Awards, recognising the company’s continued advancement of clean maritime technology and its growing contribution to shipping decarbonisation.

Presented during the CBBC’s Chinese Shakespeare Supper 2026 in London, the award recognises not only Silverstream’s continued commitment to innovation, but also the company’s contribution to strengthening commercial relationships and collaboration between the UK and China through its growing presence across the global maritime industry. The event brought together representatives from leading British and Chinese businesses and institutions to celebrate and strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.

Headquartered in London, Silverstream has established itself as one of the shipping industry’s leading operational energy efficiency providers. Its patented Silverstream® System reduces frictional resistance between the hull and water through the generation of microbubbles beneath the vessel, enabling fuel savings and lower CO₂ emissions across a wide range of vessel segments and operating conditions.

As of today, the Silverstream® System has accumulated more than 600,000 estimated running hours at sea — equivalent to approximately 74 years of continuous operation. The milestone reflects a depth of operational experience unmatched within the energy efficiency market and demonstrates the maturity, reliability and scalability of the technology across real-world operating environments.

This extensive operational track record has enabled Silverstream to continuously optimise system performance across diverse vessel types, routes and sea conditions, while building one of the industry’s largest datasets on operational air lubrication performance. In addition to fuel and emissions savings, the system also contributes to underwater radiated noise (URN) reduction, supporting wider industry efforts to minimise environmental impact at sea.

As the maritime industry continues to navigate increasing regulatory pressure and decarbonisation targets, Silverstream remains focused on delivering proven operational technologies capable of supporting immediate efficiency improvements and long-term emissions reduction across the global fleet.

Silverstream Technologies, the London-headquartered clean maritime technology company, has been named a winner of the BloombergNEF (BNEF) Pioneers 2026 competition, recognising the company’s contribution to advancing a scalable decarbonisation solution for global shipping through its air lubrication technology.Silverstream was selected in the ‘Decarbonizing Shipping and Heavy-Duty Transport’ category, after BloombergNEF reviewed more than 600 applications, identifying 29 finalists globally before selecting this year’s winners. The BloombergNEF Pioneers programme recognises climate technologies that deliver measurable impact in sectors where commercial deployment remains critical to accelerating the energy transition.  The Silverstream® System reduces frictional resistance between hull and water by generating a carpet of microbubbles beneath the vessel, improving fuel efficiency and lowering emissions across a broad range of vessel types and operating profiles, including Cruise vessels, Ro-Ro, PCTC, Containerships and LNG carriers. Silverstream’s technology delivers proven fuel and emissions savings which have been verified by independent third parties, including leading classification societies, HSVA, Carnival, Shell and the University of Southampton. As the market-leader in air lubrication technology, Silverstream now has an orderbook of more than 250 systems, with over 150 vessels in operation, reflecting increasing adoption across both retrofit and newbuild programmes. Noah Silberschmidt, Founder and CEO of Silverstream, commented: “We are delighted to receive this recognition from BloombergNEF,…
