Air lubrication market leader to provide operational experience and expertise to support the Center’s work on maritime decarbonisation
Silverstream, a market-leader in maritime efficiency has joined the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping as a Mission Ambassador, strengthening collaboration on energy efficiency solutions to accelerate the maritime industry’s journey towards a more sustainable future.
As a Mission Ambassador, Silverstream will contribute with engineering and operational expertise to the Center’s work on energy efficiency technologies. The ambition is to help the industry overcome the technical and commercial barriers to wider adoption, and to help build an evidence-based picture of the role energy efficiency can play in decarbonising shipping.
Reflecting on the announcement, Bo Cerup-Simonsen, CEO of the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, said: “Reaching zero emissions in shipping will require innovative thinking and a mix of technologies and reducing the energy ships need in the first place makes every pathway to zero more achievable. We are pleased to welcome Silverstream as a Mission Ambassador and look forward to drawing on their operational experience from the global fleet.”
Noah Silberschmidt, CEO & Founder of Silverstream, added: “Shipping’s path to net zero needs ships that use far less energy, whatever fuel they burn. As a Mission Ambassador, we look forward to sharing what we have learned from more than 160 vessel installations in service, representing a total of 19 million DWT across the world fleet, working towards a future where air lubrication and other proven energy efficiency technologies are standard in every new ship”.
