2021年10月，我们宣布与世界上最大的集装箱航运公司之一地中海航运公司（MSC）签订了一份针对Silverstream®空气润滑系统的大额订单。

该笔订单主要是为MSC的大型集装箱船新建项目安装超过30组Silverstream®系统。据估算，这将为MSC直接减少160万吨的碳排放，并节省燃料成本约18.5亿元人民币。该订单属于MSC新建船舶计划的重要一环，其中多数船舶预计将被部署在当今最繁忙的亚欧贸易航线上。

Silverstream®系统不仅将帮助MSC进一步实现零排放的目标，还将助力其创建一个具有更高可持续性的高效全球船队。

Silverstream®系统是一种无关燃料类型的空气润滑技术，通过创造一层覆盖整个船舶底部的微气泡地毯，显著减少船体和水之间的摩擦阻力，从而有效减少船舶航行的燃料消耗。根据不同船舶类型，净排放减少可达到5-10%。

该系统的每一个环节都经过了严格测试，与劳埃德船级社、DNV GL、壳牌集团、嘉年华集团和格里马尔迪等行业领导者的众多成功合作案例，有力地证明了其出色的减排效果。

从商业角度来看，船舶的效能正变得越来越重要。选择性能不佳、未经验证或者与行业标准相悖的技术不但会带来经济损失，更会于未来使船队在合规性上面临风险。

Silverstream Technologies announces major order of air lubrication technology with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC)

In October, we announced a large order of our proprietary air lubrication system – the Silverstream® System – with one of the world's largest container shipping companies, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).

The contract for more than 30 installations of the Silverstream® System on MSC’s newbuild large container ships will cut up to 1.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions and save €250 million in estimated fuel costs. The order relates to a substantial portion of MSC’s newbuild pipeline, with a number of the vessels expected to be deployed on the world’s busiest trade lanes between Asia and Europe. 

The installation of the Silverstream® System will not only support MSC on its transition to zero emissions, but will also help to create a more sustainable and efficient global fleet. 

The Silverstream® System, a fuel agnostic air lubrication technology, works by creating a carpet of micro bubbles that coats the entire flat bottom of a vessel. As a result, frictional resistance between the hull and the water is decreased – reducing fuel consumption and associated net emissions by 5-10% depending on vessel type.

Every element of the System has been rigorously tested and the emissions savings have been verified in close consultation with industry leading organisations including Lloyd’s Register, DNV GL, Shell, Carnival and Grimaldi.

Vessel efficiency is becoming a commercial imperative for owners. Choosing underperforming, unproven, sub-standard technologies will lead to unprofitability and a compliance gap in the coming years.

Silverstream will use its strong supply chain and global network of maritime industry experts, engineers, naval architects and innovators to ensure the smooth operation of the installation programme at five different shipyards across Southeast Asia.

Our recent order from MSC reflects the shipping industry’s growing recognition of viable clean technologies. MSC joins Maersk, Vale, Grimaldi and Shell, who have also announced orders of the Silverstream® System this year.
